Munchies, Magic, and Mission Calls :)

I came to the conclusion today that one of my favorite things to buy is cards-- thank-you cards or blank cards. I love them so much! So, if YOU are ever trying to decide what to get me for a present (as a late birthday present, for instance), get me a pack of cards! I will love you forever!

Monday 2.27.12
Happy Monday! Haha, not so much. Monday seemed to drag on forever! Probably because I had to write an 11 page paper... that I didn't start until 10:00 at night... yay college! BUT I did have a couple of great things happen!

1. I ate lunch with Will at the MOA. Long time no see, William! That was fun to catch up with him and tell him about all the fun things I did over the birthday weekend :)

2. I found an awesome swan in my whipped cream on the top of my pudding! (And yes, I realize that it is gross that the whipped cream was completely hard... Welcome to the Cannon Center!)

3. And last but not least, MY MOM SENT ME A PACKAGE!! It was full of Valentine's Day goodies (better late than never!) and I loved it so much. Getting packages at college is comparable to a long hug from your mom... kinda. Close enough.

And to finish off the night, I wrote that stinkin paper. Luckily I wasn't up past 3, but it wasn't fun! I shouldn't procrastinate anymore. I won't procrastinate anymore. Oh wait, by writing this blog post right now I am procrastinating. Uhhhh, I'll stop the procrastination tomorrow :)

Tuesday 2.28.12
Toos Twos Tuesday! We learned some awesome stuff in Book of Mormon class, and of course I loved going to my parenting class. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best classes! Then that night Garret and I got together to do some stats. Oh and Andy tagged along too. We knew he would distract us, so we got some dry-erase markers to keep him busy. Bad idea... What should have taken us 15 minutes took an hour and a half! Stupid stats.

Attractive, I know.
Oh! One more cool thing happened! I met another famous guy! Okay, maybe he's not famous yet, but he will be soon! His name is Sawyer Powell and he's a freshman on the football team. He's really nice and I see him all the time now! Hopefully we'll still be friends by the time he's really famous ;)

Wednesday 2.29.12
Happy Leap Day! To anyone born on this day: Congratulations. That would be so cool. I was only 3 days away... plus 3 years...

Today I slept through my alarm. But, I did get to go to one class and lunch with Tommy Boy. We went to the Wilk and saw another famous guy! (This guy really is famous. He's on the basketball team. Tom pointed him out to me. Too bad I can't remember his name...) Here is us:

Also, Creytn got his mission call! Scotland/Ireland!! :)

I also had a couple other friends get their mission calls tonight too! Sam Williams is going to Salt Lake City, Sam Grover is going to Russia, and Kyle Riches is going to Chile! Wahoo for missions! I can't wait to serve mine!

And one more thing, there was a magician at the Cannon Center! Priscilla and I went to check it out, and Skyler and his friend got to go up and help the guy do a magic trick. It was actually way awesome!!

And that is the end. Hope you enjoyed!

I made this cool thing too. Hope you like it! :)

Birthday Weekend!!!

Today is my birthday!! Birthdays are my second favorite holiday. I just love them so much! I love the idea that every single person has their own special day that they get to celebrate him/herself with friends and family. And guess what?? Today was mine!! I've been waiting all year for my special day, and it finally came! :D

Saturday 2.25.12
Saturday was a great day!!!

First of all, I got to go to lunch at the Creamery with my wonderful friend Katie Devenport. I love her! It was really great to spend some time with her. Her family got sealed in the temple on Saturday morning!! :D

When I got back, I studied for a while so that I could go take my stats test. However, I didn't realize that the Testing Center closes at 4 on Saturdays, and I was too late :( Good thing I can take it on Monday!

Not taking the test was actually a blessing, because it meant that I could go kite flying with my best friend Austin! That was seriously SO much fun. I haven't flown a kite since elementary school! Thank you, Austin, for such a wonderful afternoon :)

Spiderman and Barbie

We even tried flying them out of the car as we drove! :P
After kite flying, I got ready and my friends took me out to eat at Brick Oven :) I love them so much! Sweet Lauren payed for my dinner, and I had such a great time eating dinner with some of my greatest friends :)
Hattie, Haley, and Lauren
Austin, Andy, and Jeff

BFFs!

They made me stand on my chair when they sang to me...

THEN, that night I went to Lowes Xtreme Air Sports with some of my friends (you may remember my sweet moves video from my Presidents' Day post), and we had a great time! Unfortunately, this time I didn't get any pictures or videos :( BUT, I learned a new trick again! This time I learned how to do a cool trick where you jump on the trampoline, kick against the wall, and do a back flip off of the wall. They didn't look very pretty, but I did it!!! It took me a few tries and a lot of encouragement, but I did it three times :D Next time I go, I'll be sure to video tape myself doing it so that you all can see :)

And last but not least, I came back home to THIS:

Thank you SO much, Brooke and Lauren!!!

And that was just about one of the best days ever. Wahooooooo!!

Sunday 2.26.12-- MY BIRTHDAY!!
It's my birthday! I woke up feeling like a new, totally different person!!

Okay, obviously that's a lie. But what I did feel was sore from Lowes. Ouch :(

First of all, look at these special cards I got today from some of my wonderful friends and family:

Church was fantastic today. Brooke and Taylor gave awesome talks, and it was refreshing to hear the testimonies of 6 soon-to-be missionaries in the ward. Lauren never fails to give a spiritually uplifting lesson (this time about the Atonment-- LOVE!), and Kim gave a fantastic RS lesson about choosing to be on the Lord's side and following the commandments. Taylor told a really cool story that I want to share with all of you because... well... it's cool.
"There was once an Indian man who told his grandson this: 'There are two wolves living inside of you right now. One is a wolf made up of envy, pessimism, selfishness, etc. The other is a wolf of happiness, humility, optimism, charity, etc. They are constantly in battle one with another inside of you.' The young boy thought for a minute, then asked his grandfather, 'Well, which one wins grandpa?' The wise old man responded, 'The one you feed.'"
So yeah, church was awesome.

After church, I ate lunch with some of my friends. Too bad the CANC didn't have great food today... Oh well. Here are some pictures from lunch:
YES! Thank you, Austin, for making lunch so much better by letting me take this picture of you :D

Lauren's sister Megan came to visit us this week. Wahoo!

I drank 4 glasses! Right on!

After lunch, I took a nice long nap :) Then I went to Tom's apartment for dinner with Austin and a bunch of Tom's friends. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures there. But Tom brought me some flowers for my birthday! I love him so much!

My good friend Kaley also brought me some flowers today. She is a great friend!

I had a wonderful time at Tom's (as I always do). I love spending time with him. I just love my family!

After dinner, Will came over with his brother Tyler and they brought me a cake! My favorite kind-- funfetti cake with funfetti icing :) Yum! Thanks guys! (And Haley too, for making it with Will!) And in case you're wondering, they were going to write, "Happy Birthday," but the icing exploded so they made it into an eye for a smilie face haha!

And to end the night, I got to skype with my parents and little brother :) I love them so so much!

I have received so many gifts, cards, and love from all of my friends and family today. I am so blessed to have such amazing people in my life. Today was a great day for reflecting on how wonderful my life is and how much I have to be grateful for. Thank you to everyone who made my special day such a great success! :)

Birthday Week!

I'll tell you all about my birthday in my next post, but first I'm going to catch up on the rest of my week :)

Tuesday 2.21.12
Since we didn't have school Monday, we had Monday classes on Tuesday. So, I was done at noon again! I love being done with school that early in the day.

After class, I went to Blue Line and was NOT impressed. I got this nasty vegetable lasagna with Alfredo sauce... Yuck. Here's a picture, in case you were wondering what not to get next time:

That night, Austin and I studied for our Book of Mormon test for a little while. We're pretty unproductive when we study together, but it was fun nonetheless :) ("I am Korihor... Hear me roar!")

After "studying"/doing handstands/acting out the characters/singing and playing the piano, we went to Betos for a late-night snack. Gotta love Betos!

Wednesday 2.22.12
I didn't do very exciting things on Monday. BUT Lauren was invited to speak at a fireside for some YW in a friend's ward, and she did great! Okay, I didn't actually go, so I didn't get to see her give the fireside. But she is such an amazing person that I can only imagine that the girls LOVED her and that she did a wonderful job. Props to my awesome roommate for her humility and willingness to always serve others. Love ya Lauren!

For me, Wednesday consisted of these things: classes, homework, a beautiful sunset, a BoM review, Eric Holmstead opening his mission call (he got called to St. George!), and visiting hours. Side note: every time I say "visiting hours", I feel like I'm in an insane asylum and I get a couple hours to visit with people. Yikes! Here's what you've been waiting for-- the pictures:

Thursday 2.23.12
Thursday wasn't too eventful either. I don't remember much about it, except for ward prayer. A bunch of us girls were coincidentally wearing plaid that day, and the wardies sang to me for my birthday! :) We did the birthday song a special way that Lacey taught us (slapping our legs and clapping our hands).

Friday 2.24.12
I took my BoM test on Friday (SO glad that's over with! Those things are so stressful!), then I hung out with my pal Jeff. I was starving after my test, so we went to Panda Express. Then we drove to the hot springs to meet some friends there (if you don't know what those are, I'll tell you. It is pretty much a huge hole in the ground full of hot water. It's awesome! It's like a bathtub that never gets cold!!). But alas! Apparently the hot springs close at 11, so we got a nice run-in with the cops that night. After originally thinking that we were smoking drugs (due to the fact that there were little LED lights in the water), they let us all go with just a warning. It was quite an adventure! My favorite quote of the night, said by one of the police officers to a group of four 30-year-olds wearing pretty much nothing but speedos, "You boys sure are wearing close to nothing considering you're here without any girls." Hahahaha!

Sorry, I forgot to take pictures that whole day. Just use your imaginations to picture what happened...

And that was what happened during my birthday week! Stay tuned for a post about my birthday weekend... :D
