Tuesday.

After learning of Bishop's passing on Tuesday morning, it really hit me how grateful I am for my mom and dad. My mom was the one to tell me the news, and it was a great comfort hearing it from her. It made me realize how lucky I am to have her and my dad so involved in my life and there for support. I cannot imagine what it would be like to lose either one of them right now. I love them so much!

It was also a sobering experience to talk with some of my friends from Hiram Ward about the situation. I am just very very grateful for what I have and for the knowledge of eternal families that I have been blessed with.

Later on Tuesday I went to the library to do some homework with Austin. Yipee! I love the HBLL.

Then I went to the Blue Line Deli with Lauren, Austin, and Will. Poor Will was scooting around on his little scooter because he broke his foot :( At least it's better than crutches!

That night I got to spend some time with Tom and friends. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings (where Tom's friend Kyle did the BUFFALO CHALLENGE!!) and then went to Culver's for some ice cream. It was great to spend some time off of campus with them.

Rest In Peace

A couple weeks ago, my bishop from back home had a stroke. Things were looking a little better, so I was hoping that he would recover and everything would be alright. However, on Tuesday of this week, Bishop Herman passed away. It was very sudden and unexpected.

Bishop Herman was an amazing person. He was my bishop all through high school and helped me through a lot. He was sometimes goofy and could always cheer me up when I needed a laugh. Bishop was always there for me and always made me feel loved and accepted at church. He always had each of the ward individual's needs in mind as he served and provided counsel to each of us. I wish I could be there at the funeral tomorrow, but I know that his family is in good hands with the support of the ward. I will never forget the profound influence that he made in my life and the support that he never withheld from me. He will be missed, until the day when I know he'll greet me with one of his huge bear-hugs when I join him in Heaven.

Rest in peace, Bishop Herman.

Heads Up

Hi friends!
A lot has happened this week, but I've been so busy that I haven't posted on my blog all week. BUT stick around, and I promise to get a post done by the end of the night. Or by the end of tomorrow night. Okay, sometime this weekend I will do an update of my week :D

Lame Post

It is currently 1:30AM, and I just finished writing my first essay for the semester, called "My Parents' Parenting". It's for my SFL 240 class. So, it's pretty late and I'm tired. I'm just going to do a quickie tonight without much elaboration. Here's my day in rapid speed:

Garret and I love stats! And no, we didn't sit behind any famous people today :(

When I went to Tom's work today to pick him up for lunch, I found the place where Harry Potter lives (in the closet under the stairs). Or it could just be a midget door. Either way, it was cool enough for me to want to take a picture.

Tom and I went to the MoA Cafe for lunch. Mmmm!

These kids were having a snowball fight outside of our window. I decided to be a creep and take pictures of them while I should have been writing my essay. Welcome to my life. Wahoo!

So Lauren seriously thought that she lost her wallet all day today. We tore up our room looking for it, including in that box, under those books, and under the covers. She called her parents, checked the lost and found, and even cancelled her credit card. A couple hours later, I was working on my essay, when all of a sudden Lauren goes, "Angela. Am I seeing things? What is that on my bed?" and her wallet was right there on top of her bed!

There are only three explanations: 1) We are both blind and didn't see it as we tore up our room looking for it (most probable explanation). 2) Someone somehow got into our room without us noticing it and put it on her bed. 3) It's a magic wallet that can blend in with its surroundings and be invisible to play tricks on its owner. We may never know which of these three is true, but I am sure glad that she found it!

On the way to church this morning, I saw this:

I love the mountains right after it snows! What a beautiful view. This is one of the many reasons that I love going to school at BYU :)

I gave the lesson in Relief Society today! It was titled "Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself". It was a great lesson! It went a lot smoother this time than last, and I was less discombobulated (last time I had to give a talk on the same day, so I didn't have a lot of time to put into preparing for the lesson. Hence, this lesson was better). I really enjoyed preparing for and giving this one. I like to prepare a little power point for every lesson so that everyone can follow along and not get bored :) At the beginning of the lesson, I showed this video, then at the end I showed this one. They're both short but really cute. You should watch them!

To tie in with the last video (about the silver dollars), I printed out these little hand-outs for the girls:

I put little coin stickers on them so that they'd think of the silver dollar video every day when they look at it, and I asked them to put it in their wallet so that they would see it often. I thought it was a cute, creative idea for a hand-out :) Hopefully it will really help everyone to remember to serve someone every day!

After church I went to the CANC for lunch. I love lunch on Sundays because our ward always eats together right by the window. Here is the group of girls that I sat by today:

Then we had our weekly hall meeting. We are all usually pretty tired during it, but these two girls were especially tired today and fell asleep :/ Poor girls:

After hall meeting I took a 20-minute nap... For 2 hours. Yep, welcome to my life. The life of never waking up to any kind of alarm. So needless to say, I didn't get a lot of stuff done today that I said I would. Oh well, it is what it is.

Lauren finally got the music for Pride and Prejudice! She thinks that she's happy that she got the music... I think I'm more excited than she is! I love hearing that music played on a piano. It reminds me of when I was younger and my mom and sisters would play it on Sundays. I can't wait to hear Lauren play it more :)

Tonight I got to eat a delicious dinner with Will! I went over to his place at Heritage Halls and we made pizza. Can you believe that I've never made homemade pizza before? It was soooo good! Plus I had great company :) Here are some pictures:

Twofer

I didn't get to post last night because I got home wayyy too late to kick up my computer and put pictures up. So here's two days worth of my life! 

January 20th:

I think Garret and I have made it a tradition to get Jamba Juice every Friday. Well, we've actually only done it twice, but I'm hoping that it becomes tradition. I love Jamba! Caribbean Passion... mmm...

So as we were sitting in our 10am stats class, I looked up and this is what I saw sitting in front of me:

That's Kyle Van Noy! In case you forgot, he is a linebacker for the BYU football team. And he was sitting right in front of me! That was the coolest thing that has happened yet in that class. Garret didn't think it was that special and was wondering why I was so excited, but that guy is famous! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that sitting right behind a famous person is pretty awesome. And, that's not even the best part! I am pretty sure that there are tons of other BYU sports players in that class because they are all athletic-looking and wear BYU hoodies and sweatpants and shoes and hats all the time. Maybe I'll meet and marry the next Jimmer ;) Kidding!

Fridays are my longest days. I have class back-to-back from 10-3, so I don't really ever get lunch. You'd think that having a 3-hour class would make things seem to drag on, but it's an elementary teachers art class, which means we sometimes get to do crafts and fun things the whole time! I'm definitely not complaining about that.

So yesterday in class we learned all about crayons. Well, it's actually not that we learned about crayons so much as we just learned different ways of how they can be used. Here's what I mean:

To make this, you melt down crayons and pretty much paint with the melted wax. It's a lot harder than it looks to make smooth lines, but it's a super fun thing to try out. It was probably my favorite project to mess around with.
 

To make this one, you color with crayon on sand paper, then place a piece of white paper on top of it and iron on top of the white paper. The crayon wax melts onto the paper and makes this really cool pattern! I really loved doing this one too.

This one is an awesome project. You color patterns with different crayons onto a piece of paper until the whole paper is covered in crayon. Then, you paint over the whole thing with a concoction of tempura paint (I used pink) and soap. After it dries, you can scratch away the paint into any design you want, and the crayon shows through from beneath! It is a really cheap alternative to this.

I kept working on some of these art project once I got home, then I went to the Creamery with Will Carver. We bought some pizza ingredients because we are going to make a pizza together for dinner on Sunday! It was really great to finally see him and catch up with him.

Poor William actually broke his foot later that night :( Feel better Will!

Ryan and I were going to go country dancing that night, but it turns out that country dancing is on Saturday nights, not Fridays. So we went to dinner at Macaroni Grill instead.

After dinner, we met up with Tom and his date Adelay at the boys' apartment and built sandcastles! That was so much fun.

After cleaning up the mess, Tom took Adelay out on Ryan's motorcycle. Ryan and I played a wild game of Egyptian Rat Screw, then a not-so-wild game of Go Fish. But when Tom and Adelay got back, Ryan took me out on the motorcycle! We went up into the mountains and looked over the city. It was beautiful. Then we rode down through the winding roads towards the temple, which looked beautiful all lit-up. It was sprinkling a little bit while we were riding, but it was still really fun :) I think I'm growing more and more in love with motorcycles!

January 21st:

Today was kind of a lazy day. I woke up at around 11 (I know that's late, but cut me some slack! I didn't get much sleep haha) and talked to my mom and brother on the phone. After lunch with my friends at the Cannon, Ryan brought me my left-overs from Macaroni Grill that I left at his house the night before. We ended up just going to the library together.

At the library I got my whole lesson done for Relief Society tomorrow! I can't wait to give it. Hopefully I won't be too tired from blogging all night... :/ I didn't get much else done today, though. I definitely didn't get all the things done that I wanted to. Tomorrow might be a little busy after church!

We left the library at about 8, by which time we were both starving. But when we walked outside, this is what we walked into! The first real snowstorm of the season!

In case you're wondering, he's wearing shorts because he was at the gym right before we went the library, haha! He was freezing!

We went to Five Guys and had a deliciously anti-nutritious meal. Wahoo!

And now I'm exhausted and ready for bed. Goodnight!
